What is New?

Maker Space Development
The LRC is designating the area in front of the ICT Lab as the new LRC Maker Space. This will house a growing collection of maker kits, a work table and the Maker tables for mobile spaces. Some kits will be in the system and students will be able to check them out to take home with them.

IBL/PBL rewritten into the ICT Curriculum
Making is being added as a main teaching method to the 8th grade Creative Carousel and will become part and parcel of other units for sy15/16.

Follet Destiny
The system is up and running. The biggest issue to surmount is now an internal one. Student logins need to be sorted out for students to use the social aspects of Destiny and personalise it.

Extra Curricular

The Maker Club: is run by a small group of 12th graders who meet most Wednesdays to experiment with "making". The are considering building a personal 3D printer as their next challenge. This will grow to become an after school drop in club for all students, once the maker kits are ready to go.

Library Club: This is a smaller version of a maker club, in which students develop activities and projects and take these to local libraries and work with children around Santa Tecla. They will be working with the new Children's Library in Nuevo Cuscatlan as well.

The Robotics Club: Every Thursday students learn how to program, built, test and modify a robot according to one specific problem. Students develop multiple intelligences by practicing this. Teamwork is also a great achievement for students when making robots together.

Orders for sy15/16 are underway, but still incomplete.
Book Weeding for sy14/15 is complete. Books were donated to the ABC Community. Any remaining books will be donated to a local charity.

Construction and Changes

-A small part of the fiction section will be closed off and adapted for exam and other storage for Secondary. English books in the Dept storage shelves will be reduced and the Fiction collections shifted to include part of that area.
